You need an application form from
the Justice Dept. at 143 Pasteur, D3. It explains the paperwork required,
which is generally as follows:

1. Application for marriage.
2. Official copy of birth certificate and passport.
3. Medical certificate.
4. Single status certificate.

All documents obtained from your home country must be certified by your
Consulate or Embassy and accompanied by a certified translation into
Vietnamese from the public notary office at 97 Pasteur, Ho Chi Minh City.

The whole process takes a couple of months (including about 30 days for
the marriage certificate to be issued).

Hi Eileen,

It's actually quite difficult for foreigners to be legally married in Vietnam. not impossible, but close to it. Most couples do their paperwork beforehand in their home countries, and then have a ceremony in Vietnam that has no real legal bearing.

Kat and Jason were aboard a boat owned by Bhaya cruises, you can find them online. A Bhaya staff member acted as the celebrant for the ceremony (he was OK, but not great).

If you need more help, email me at julianwainwright@gmail.com

cheers,
jules

We are coming from the US and want to have a wedding at Halong Bay.

Who married them?
Did they require paper work?
Is there a specific ship line they used?

All information would be fabulous.

Your photo's are great.

Be Happy.

Thank you ,
Eileen
Los Angeles, California
