What happens when you fly in guests from all over the world to convene at a spectacular new villa in Phuket, Thailand? A little bit of everything, and a great way for us to end 2011 with our last big wedding of the year.

A very big shout out goes to Jeanette at Luxury Events Phuket, who organized the wedding. And of course to Suh-Hee and Ricky, the bride and groom, who showed their family and friends what a real wedding is all about: love, devotion, and a kick-ass pool party.

Desre & Magtellus : Sarojin Resort, Khao Lak Wedding

Julian: Desre and Magtellus traveled over 10,000 kilometers for their wedding – from Cape Town, South Africa to The Sarojin, Khao Lak, Thailand. So there was no way they were going to let a little rain dampen their wedding day. Which is good, because it’s rainy season in Thailand, and that means some serious downpours. But we managed to sneak in a fun couples shoot in the morning, in between spurts of rainfall, and re-arranged the ceremony for midday, instead of late afternoon when the black clouds usually roll in off the coast. And they didn’t miss a beat. Casual, fun, relaxed and beautiful – everything you could ask for in a small, intimate wedding.

As always, it was a pleasure working at my favorite venue in Khao Lak – The Sarojin.

Aidan: Hailing from Texas and Trinidad, Brian and Aneela met in Edinburgh before traveling over half the globe and now residing in Singapore. Despite always wanting to discover new places, one country always stuck out for them and it was Thailand that they chose to get married in.

The location was the award-winning boutique hotel, The Sarojin at the North end of the Khao Lak strip, where Julian had been photographing a few months earlier. A ceremony on the beach was followed by sunset on the rocks and private dinner on the sands. What a beautiful day and a fun relaxed couple to be around!

With climbing Mount Kilimanjaro amongst their conquests, getting them to stand still for this 6 second exposure was a breeze! The waves were up to my waist and spraying the camera with sand and salt water, but the Canon 5d mk II didnt flinch, a great piece of kit.
